The optimum combination of tool geometry and exceptional powdered metal material provides the basis for all PM Plus products. Free cutting geometry to reduce torque requirements, and increased toughness via their unique powdered metal provide tools specially suited for machining work hardening and gummy materials. They also work well with mild steel. Feed rate increases of 700% have been documented in production tests.

A special proprietary combination of advanced geometries and a powder metal substrate material have resulted in a new, efficient, economical and aggressive roughing tool for high volume aluminum removal.

The benefit of machining with these tools is not only their rugged endurance, but their performance. Available corner radii (.060", .090", and .120") make deep pocket roughing a breeze. Unlike conventional roughing tools, the Series 538's design throws a flat ribbon chip out and away from the cutting surface, eliminating any problem of chip packing in the flutes of material buildup on the tool's surface. This, along with the fine grain structural strength, provides excellent heat and wear resistance.

The Series 538 is available in both right and left hand cutting designs with or without TiCN coating based on the roughing operation. Built into each Series 538 rougher is the cost saving economics which make this tool superior to its competition. High speed rates (to 3,250 SFM) and heavier feed rates with less torque and horsepower demands make the Series 538 a real profit maker.
