Bandsaw Blade Terminology

| Gage | 12 | The thickness of the blade |
| Gullet | 2 | The curved area at the base of the tooth. |
| Gullet depth | 4 | The distance from the tooth tip to the bottom of the gullet. |
| Rake angle | 10 | The cutting surface of the tooth. |
| Relief angle | 7 | The surface of the tooth opposite the cutting edge, or tooth face. |
| Thickness | 12 | The thickness of the blade. |
| Tooth | 5 | The cutting portion of the saw blade. |
| Tooth back | 7 | The surface of the tooth opposite the cutting edge, or tooth face. |
| Tooth back clearance angle | 9 | The angle of the tooth back measured in relation to the cutting direction of the saw. |
| Tooth face | 8 | The cutting surface of the tooth. |
| Tooth pitch | 11 | The distance from one tooth tip to the next tooth tip. |
| Tooth rake angle | 10 | The angle of the tooth face measured with respect to a line perpendicular to the cutting direction of the saw. |
| Tooth set | 13 | The offsetting of the teeth from right to left to allow clearance (kerf) of the blade back through the cut. |
| TPI | 6 | The number of teeth per inch. |
| Width | 1 | The nominal dimension of a saw blade, as measured from the tip of the tooth to the back of the blade. |
